Treating comorbidity of depression and anxiety and addressing side effects of some medications

At ENCP 2021, Professor Roger McIntyre chatted with us about anxiety in people with major depressive disorder (MDD) and how it can impact both MDD symptoms and recovery. Treating anxiety can help alleviate MDD and lead to better overall health outcomes. Also discussed was how people with schizophrenia or MDD may be fully open to taking a treatment; however, if they then experience sedating or activating side effects, it can be frustrating for both the patients and physicians and can lead to treatment discontinuation and then potential symptom worsening.
